Literacy resembles much more than the traditional manner in which it is viewed. An all-encompassing phenomenon, it promotes a lifelong educational journey in a plethora of different industries. Reading has a direct positive effect on the way in which one thinks, writes, listens and orally communicates. The more literate individuals are, the more literate society as a whole becomes.
Literacy plays no small part in underpinning democracy and driving development. The art of and need for listening contribute to interactive communication, a vital component in a fledgling democracy. Two-way interaction is a demonstration of freedom of expression in its truest form from both a communicator and listener perspective.
Given the aforementioned, Radiocracy has taken the deliberate decision to proactively embark on the Quest for Literacy programme that will be rolled out in various manifestations.
A strong link exists between radio and other communication channels, and, accordingly, Quest for Literacy will be facilitated by and through the available media platforms
The Quest for Literacy programme will incorporate various key sectors in an attempt to achieve its objective. These include but are not limited to:

♦ consumer
♦ environment & tourism
♦ health & wellness
♦ law & justice
♦ leadership & management
♦ media & entertainment, and
♦ sports & recreation.
Universal buy-in is fundamentally important in addressing the illiteracy illness currently hampering progress and prosperity.
